Chinese trade fairs are more for mass market and fashion weeks are for luxury and established designers, not for creative independent designers. It is true but we should change such a recognition soon.
On April 2015, 3 trade shows and about 20 showrooms for international and domestic independent designers with good quality run around the same time as Shanghai Fashion week. Those events made many buyers from famous department stores to local new generation concept stores come to order finally.
”Showroom Shanghai” trade show holds its third-time trade show near the main venue of Shanghai Fashion week, runway stage. From 7 to 10 April, it was for 40 international brands including Y’s and Romeo showroom from Italy, and from 12 to 15 April for 50 domestic brands.
“Tn” trade show, the brand-new trade show, had decided to launch just one month ago at the same building and duration as Showroom Shanghai, gathered 70 domestic designers in artistic atmosphere.
“Ontimeshow” trade show with 8 showrooms and 30 brands including lifestyle products and featuring England products was located in MODE Shanghai. In MODE Shanghai 5 more showrooms had their pop-up spaces.
Besides those trade fairs, around 10 showrooms are held independently around Xintiandi.
The duration of next Shanghai fashion week is not confirmed yet but will be earlier. All the organizers tell that they will change their way totally in next season. We need to wait and see how the style and size of each trade fair will have been changed, but definitely Shanghai will be Chinese center of creative B to B market place like Paris very soon.
